-We are going to design an app that will allow the user to put points on the screen and have Sphero follow the points in order they were placed. This will allow the user to draw specific shapes. WE are also going to have a screen of predefined shapes for the user to choose from. For example they can command the Sphero to draw a square, circle, or other simple two dimensional shapes.
We are going a total of two different screens, one for the user to put points on and another for the Sphero to draw predefined shapes. The main screen will be a screen for the user to draw the points on. When the user touches down on the screen a dot will show where they touch, if they create multiple points the sphere will go to the points in the order they were created. The user then has the ability to start the points that were.
2) Possible Problems
-Setting up the touch overall may cause some issues although we have gone over it in class.
-Translating the user X and Y points into movements for the Sphero will be one of the bigger portions of the application.
-Also getting the phone to draw points on the screen to show where the user touches the screen which won’t be a trivial task
3) Division of Labor
-First we will have to set up a touch overlay on the screen to allow the user touches to be read.
-Will need to do some math to allow Sphero able to move between the different points the user will input.
-We will need to come up with a simple graphics element to display each point that the user touches
]]>The app allows you to choose between 3 different sounds, a pig squeal, rocket or laser beam. It also lets you change the sensitivity from very low(makes noise just from shaking of a person’s hand) or high which requires some vigorous shaking. These changes are updated in real time so you do not have to press the “Start” button again.
]]>I started with a block of clay and made a cylinder, half circle and then the arms and legs.
Then I cut a 3 white LED’s from an LED strip I bought off amazon(5 meters for $13, I originally bought these to make a custom license plate light for my motorcycle) and soldered some wire to the strip. Then i pushed the led strip into the clay head and ran the wires out the bottom of the head.
Then I cut a square out of the back and put a 9 volt battery in its place.
When you place the head on the body the wires connect the battery and make the eyes light up.
Here’s a few images from the project.
]]>The app I designed is recipe searcher which uses the punchfork.com recipe database and API. The app will return a list of at max 50 recipes and organize them into a listview. Clicking a result will take you to the webpage for that recipe. It allows you to change how the results are sorted with a drop down menu item. If no search item is given in the search box the query will retrieve the highest rated recipes.
The app also implements retrieving data from the given link (twodee.org link) through the menu. To access this activity, press the menu key and select list activity.
I leaned how to use Web API’s which is something I’ve never heard of before this assignment. JSON was also a foreign concept to me before this assignment and now I understand it pretty well. Also I learned how to use the menu because I didn’t bother with it in any my previous apps, it was surprisingly easy to use.

]]>1. A basic Towers Defense game. Enemies move through shortest path through a field, player can place towers that do various actions and block paths.
2. An app that stores basic information (like a spreadsheet of data) onto the devices memory and could reload this information.
3. A music player app, ability to play music from disk and possibly change the equalizer for the output
4. A launcher app(like launcher pro or go launcher) – These change the main functions of the phone and allow for greater customization (app drawer, lock screen, lower dock are all customizable)
5. An app that would use gps to tell you the location of specific people who have all agree to share their location. (Like for arranging meetings)
