The app that I am reviewing is the allrecipes.com Dinnerspinner. This app is by Allrecipes.com, Inc. In this app you choose the type of dish, the main ingredient and cook time from a scrolling panel. The app is set to only let a person choose one of each ingredient, dish and cook time. You can then either shake it or press the spin buttons to get recipes with your ingredients. The recipes are shown in a list that can be sorted by relevance, title, rating, and popularity. Once you select a single recipe you can see the ingredients, instructions, reviews, nutritional information and comments.
Recipe search is a competitor of dinnerspinner. It are more popular than dinner spinner (having 7500 reviews compared to 3000). It offer some of the features for free that the pro version of dinnerspinner offers, such as a shopping list where you can add specific items and then send via text or email to someone. The program also lets you search by any ingredient and look up questionable ingredients.
I couldn’t find any bugs with this app, but the reviews have reported some freezing with the samsung galaxy when using the random spinner (shaking the phone). Aside from the problems with freezing in a few reviews this app has outstanding reviews. People would like to see options for vegetarian, vegan and other restrictions added.
This app is free, but a paid version is offered. The pro version is $2.99 and offers some more of the features that the website has, such as saving favorite recipes, putting together shopping lists, and a cookbook view to use while cooking. The reviews for the pro version have some complaints about difficulty deleting the shopping lists.
