App Name: Dolphin Browser HD

Developer Site: http://www.dolphin-browser.com/

New users to Dolphin Browser are not given any introduction into how to use the software, it has a very intuitive interface that is almost exactly like Google Chrome’s interface. The controls are really what makes this app wonderful, it has visual tabs unlike the built in Opera browser and and it allows for extensions to the browser. A extension app that I installed to the browser allows me to use the non mobile version of any site I visit which is useful on sites that reduce functionality on mobile devices.

Dolphin Browser exploits the mobile environment very well. It does so by allowing gestures to navigate (forward, back, refresh) and allows to to make new gestures to go to any web site of your choosing. It also added a full screen option for maximum usability, and swiping to either side can reveal your bookmarks or your extensions.

This app was developed by Mobotap, Inc. The app has a 4.5 out of 5 on the Android market, in general the reviews are very positive but there are some negative complaints about crashes or performance issues on certain mobile devices. The feedback tells me that its a good app, especially since I have yet to experience any issues after a week of moderate use.

In my opinion it is better than the other browsers that I have tried, that may be because it has a environment that I am very used to (the Chrome interface). It offers more functionality than the built in (stock) Opera browser, although Opera seems like it may be slightly faster. It is also has a higher rating than the Opera browser, but about 30,000 less reviews.

I was unable to break the app (crash it) in a week of use.

Money no longer plays a part in Dolphin Browser HD, previous versions were either paid for or supported by ads. Now all new versions of the app are released free of charge and without ads, I was unable to find any reasoning for their change though.
